The history associated with that motto is quite lengthy. The basic gist of the history lesson is this: Back in the 1950′s, drive-in’s were abundant. In that day and age, it was customary to have a “carhop”, called such because she literally hopped onto the running boards of your automobile, to take your order. She would subsequently skate inside and turn-in your order and skate back out to return it.

When Sonic Drive-In came along, originally known as Top Hat Drive-In, we changed the way that drive-in’s did business. Troy Smith, our founder, recognized that speedy service was key in having customers leave satisfied. He and a partner derived a very simplistic version of the red button that we have today. At that time, we were the only quick service restaurant to utilize this breaking technology to take orders without customers leaving cars or dispatching carhops. Hence the motto “Service with the Speed of Sound”. Coincidentally, OrderMatic Electronics Corporation was subsequently formed to market this tool along with the Point of Sale system that many drive-in’s use today.

Although some drive-in’s still chant the motto “Service with the Speed of Sound”, which is still a very true and applicable motto, we have advanced our technologies in recent years and surpassed the benchmark made in the 50′s. Today we have PAYS, or Pay At Your Stall, for credit card processing; handheld point-of-sale computers, and touch screens. Unfortunately, Bagwell Sonics has been behind the times for some length of time now. We did not have the capabilities many other franchise owners had simply because we did not have a functioning website or online presence of any kind.

The times are changing! We have built this beautiful and functional website for our customers and guests. We have newsletter and text-message capabilities built right in. And, we are still continually evolving our technologies to better serve our customers. It is our sincere desire that this website will service your online needs. We communicate with our guests on a daily basis through the friendly faces of our carhops when they serve your tasty food and beverages. However, we also offer additional forms of communication to those guests who wish to receive extra special service. We have several means to communicate with customers in an effective, no-hassle manner.

EasySMS Service

EasySMS Service, or Alerts as we call it, is a service we provide to our customers and guests who have text-message enabled PDA’s or cellular devices. The program is easy to use, hence the name EasySMS. We provide this service at no cost to our guests. However, certain cellular charges may apply to certain customers. We only send messages using this service a maximum of four times in any given month and only one time per week. Often the number of messages you receive will be less. The messages highlight current promotions or temporary specials that may be occurring at a location near you.

Newsletters

For our customers who don’t have text-message enabled devices or wish not to receive periodic messages on their device, we offer an additional option. The monthly DEALS! letter can be mailed to your inbox at the beginning of each month. The letter contains promotional updates and occasionally includes special offers or coupons.
